Jon Mendis

Managing Partner / Principal

Mr. Mendis is responsible for Hyperions’s real estate investment strategies, tenant relationships, and shares the day-to-day operations with Mr. Tiano. Mr. Mendis’ responsibilities include actively sourcing, overseeing due diligence, and closing investment opportunities focusing primarily in the Western United States. Prior to Hyperion, Mr. Mendis served as the Senior Vice President of Investments for the Western U.S. for the Sterling Organizations a private equity fund manager with over $1 Billion AUM. There he sourced and oversaw all acquisition opportunities in the region out of their Los Angeles office. Mr. Mendis has 12 years of experience in the acquisition of retail real estate assets throughout the West Coast. He was previously the Director of Acquisitions for Retail Opportunity Investments Corporation (NASDAQ: ROIC), a publicly traded REIT, where he directly oversaw the company’s dramatic growth. As ROIC’s most active director of acquisitions, Mr. Mendis personally sourced, negotiated, or closed over $4 billion in retail real estate.

Mr. Mendis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. As an accomplished student athlete in Michigan’s prestigious wrestling program, he was honored as a two-time Big Ten Scholar Athlete. Through organizations like Beat the Streets Los Angeles, Mr. Mendis continues to combine his passion for wrestling with his desire to help disadvantaged communities around LA. Mr. Mendis is also an avid outdoorsman and can be caught snowboarding or hiking throughout the world.
